Jenny's Profile

An accomplished road and track rider in her own right, the young Scot made an instant impact in the world of para-cycling, as the pilot for Sophie Unwin, when she took on the role in March 2021. Three years on she is part of a well-established multiple world title-winning and double Paralympic medal-winning duo.

Holl made a promising start to her individual career, racing in a number of international events on the road and performing well in her native Women’s Tour of Scotland in 2019.,

But her results on the track were even more impressive, the highlight coming in the 2019 European Games when she won a team pursuit silver medal with a Great Britain squad that comprised her, Jessica Roberts, Megan Barker and Josie Knight.

Other personal highlights included Holl, then just 18 years old, becoming Scotland’s youngest ever national champion in 2018 when she was part of the Team Breeze squad that won the team pursuit at the British National Track Championships.

Holl and Unwin became a tandem pair after Holl appeared to be coming to the end of her time with the Great Britain Senior Academy at the start of 2021, which started an incredibly quick elevation for the pair. Within three months of forming a partnership, the pair were world champions on the road and were selected for the Tokyo Paralympics where they delivered  stand-out debut performances, coming home with a silver medal in the tandem road race and bronze in the individual pursuit in the velodrome.

Earlier in the 2021 season, , the two riders had made  their competitive debut at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Cup in Ostend Belgium, where they placed third in both their chosen road disciplines.

They carried that form into the World Championships in Portugal just a few weeks later where they enjoyed a spectacular success, taking gold in the road race, followed up by a hugely creditable fourth place in the time-trial.

Following the Tokyo Paralympic Games, the pair went from strength to strength, performing consistently across the UCI Para-Road World Cup season in 2022, bringing home one gold and three silver medals over two rounds.

The 2022 UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships in Canada saw them crowned world champion in the tandem B time-trial, later picking up a silver medal to add to their haul in the road race.

Further success followed on the track, with the pair displaying their broad skillset, securing bronze medals in the sprint and 1km time trial, before topping off the season with a world title in the Tandem B pursuit.

2023 continued to see success with one win and three silver medals across the para-cycling road World Cup series. Their shining moment came at their home, multi-discipline UCI Cycling World Championships which saw them win an incredible three world titles on the track in Glasgow, the first time the Olympic and Paralympic programmes were combined at a world championships. They followed this up on the roads of Dumfries and Galloway with a silver in the time-trial and a bronze medal in the road race, capping off a fantastic season.

So far in 2024, heading towards the Paris Paralympic Games, the pair have come up against strong competition in the shape of their British teammates, Lizzi Jordan and Danni Khan. Jordan was able to overcome Unwin and Holl in all three events at the UCI Para-Track World Championships in Rio in March, with the duo taking three silvers. The pair will need to be on top form if they are to challenge the other powerful Team GC tandems for gold both on the track and the road in Paris, in a highly competitive category.
