Rhys' Profile

Rhys Britton claims Welsh heritage, born in Pontypridd and riding for Newport Velo Youth Cycling Club as a junior. He has ridden for the Great Britain Cycling Team since 2021 and combines both road and track racing.

In August 2021, he won gold in the Madison with his partner Will Tidball at the UEC Under-23 and Junior European Track Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, and silver at the same competition in the team pursuit alongside Tidball, Alfie George, and Max Rushby.

Later that year, he was part of a bronze medal-winning team pursuit squad at the UEC European Championships in Grenchen, Switzerland (with Charlie Tanfield, Will Tidball, and Ollie Wood), and he joined the team for the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Roubaix, France, where he achieved a bronze medal in the scratch race.

The Track Nations Cup in Milton, Canada in May 2022 proved fruitful for Britton, as he took home two medals – gold in the scratch race, and silver in the Madison, with Ethan Hayter. The season concluded with a team pursuit bronze at the UEC European Track Championships in Munich, Germany, alongside Wood, Tidball, and Kian Emadi.

In February 2023 Britton took home the bronze medal in the team pursuit alongside Tanfield, Tidball and Wood at the UCI Track Nations Cup in Jakarta, Indonesia.

2024 has started with an incredible result as Britton, Tanfield and Tidball, alongside Josh Charlton and Josh Tarling, won gold in the team pursuit at round one of the UCI Track Nations Cup in Adelaide, Australia, beating the hosts in the final.

Britton currently rides for the Saint Piran domestic continental team. He has ridden on the road since junior level, achieving a number of strong results in Belgian kermesses in 2019 as part of the Wales Racing Academy including a win at Templeuve. In 2021 riding as part of the GB Cycling Academy team he finished 33rd in the Trofeo Alcudia (1.1) and finished in the top 10 at the Otley Grand Prix. After a year with the Irish team EvoPro Racing he moved to Saint Piran in 2023 and recorded a number of results in domestic races.
