British Cycling’s vision for women’s cycling is to inspire one million more women to get on their bikes – be it for fun, health, the best form of sustainable transport or winning bike races.
British Cycling’s development programme, HSBC UK Go-Ride, is now providing rider development sessions for women and girls, to help riders to build confidence and learn new cycling techniques in a relaxed and informal setting.
The sessions for women and girls-only are being delivered all around the country and are proving to be extremely popular, attracting over 40 riders per session, on closed road circuits and at velodromes.
British Cycling would like to invite all women to join these cycling sessions and be part of a new generation of female riders.
The sessions give women and girls the opportunity to:
- Ride with friends and others of similar ability
- Develop bike handling techniques
- Learn about group riding techniques and etiquette
- Develop cycling fitness
Feedback has been extremely positive so far:
“The whole session was thoroughly enjoyable. I found the coach to be very professional, but she also had a lovely sense of humour that made us relax and have fun."
“It was great to meet like-minded ladies. We all want similar things - to get fit, ride safely and complete various challenges. I mostly ride with men, so it is lovely to get some expert coaching, which I have already put into practice!”
