Weekend Racing Round-Up: Youth Circuit Series, Junior and Under-23 National Road Series

Amelia Cebak and Jed Smithson were crowned the victors at the Hatherleigh Road Race, while Rory Gravelle, Abigail Miller, Finlay Storrie and Melanie Rowe secured wins at the Scarborough Cycling Festival in the sixth round of the Youth Circuit Series.

Hatherleigh Road Race – Junior Men and Junior/Under-23 Women’s National Road Series

Jed Smithson retained MAS Design - Fensham Howes’ dominance in the Junior Men’s National Road Series by securing another win for the team in the fifth round, while Amelia Cebak (Tofauti Everyone Active) claimed victory in the third round of the Junior and Under-23 Women’s National Road Series.

Smithson sprinted to the victory from a three-up break, beating Tomos Pattinson (Tofauti Everyone Active) and Harry Codd (Wales Racing Academy).

In the women’s race, Cebak secured her first National Series win in an exhaustive finish which saw her edge away from a small front group. Cebak took the win ahead of Matilda McKibben (Liv Cycling Club -Halo Films) and Alice Colling (Shibden Hope Tech Apex).

Scarborough Cycling Festival – Youth Circuit Series

Abigail Miller (Clifton CC) took the Youth A Girls’ win to extend her overall lead in the Youth Circuit Series, beating Ellie Mitchinson (Welwyn Wheelers CC) and Rebecca Gardiner (Lee Valley Youth Cycling Club) who finished second and third, respectively.

Rory Gravelle (Velo Myrddin CC powered by Y Beic) also added to his series lead with the victory in the Youth A Boys’ race, finishing ahead of Jamie Stewart (Cystic Fibrosis Race) and Seth Jackson (Acrog-Tormans).

In the Youth B Girls’ race, Melanie Rowe (Deeside Thistle CC) looked to move up the series standings by sprinting to the win, while current joint leader Rose Lewis (Halesowen A & CC) had to settle for second on the day. Abi Clayton (Team RL360 Isle Of Man) finished in third place.

Maindy Flyers CC made it a Youth B Boys’ 1-2 as Finlay Storrie and Steffan King secured first and second place in Scarborough, while Noah White (Mid Shropshire Wheelers) finished in third.
