National champions will be crowned this weekend (24 and 25 July), as the 2021 HSBC UK | National Mountain Bike Cross-Country Championships take place at Newnham Park in Plymouth.

Start List

The women’s race will see the hugely promising crop of riders battling for the title, with the likes of Annie Last (SCOTT Racing) and Isla Short among the names to watch out for.

Grant Ferguson returns to win back an elite men’s title last won in 2018, but he faces tough competition in the shape of Team Inspired riders Frazer Clacherty and Cameron Orr, as well as Ben Wadey (Clee Cycles).

Race organiser Matt Williams, Mayer Active, said:

“We’ve chucked the kitchen sink at the course to make sure it will be technical, challenging and fun for the riders and should provide some fantastic wheel to wheel racing. We’ve also reworked the spectator areas to get people as close to the action as we possibly can.

“With the absence of Tom Pidcock and Evie Richards, the field in the elite races will be wide open, as the national championships returns after a year’s absence following last year’s cancellation due to the pandemic.”

As ever, the full set of titles across the age categories will be decided over an action-packed Saturday and Sunday of racing.
