Happy New Year!
Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year celebration! How are the New Year's resolutions going?
January is always a great time for me. A real excitement brews as I look forward to racing again. My sponsorships are now finalised and I can really look forward to the 2010 season. My schedule for 2010 starts in April when the NPS 4X and British Downhill Series fire into life again.
My big news for 2010 is I have signed a 2 year contract with Rocky Mountain, enabling me to really focus on my racing over the next 2 years and not worry about my sponsorship. Rocky Mountain have been great over the past 4 years and I am looking forward to continuing my relationship with them till the end of my racing career.
Training has been going really well. My gym program, especially, is well on track as I have developed a lot more strength in my whole body during the last few months. February is the exciting month for me when I start focusing more on my 4X specific training using my start gate at home and various 4X and BMX tracks around the country to work on my weak points and get quicker for 2010. Corner speed is the big focus for my 2010 World Cup campaign. It is something that I hope will make a big difference and get me to where I know I can be - inside the top 5 overall in the World Cup.
So it will be a busy year with 6 rounds of World Cup 4X, World Championships, European Championships, 7 rounds of NPS 4X rounds, National 4X Championships, 4 Rounds of National Downhill, National Downhill Championships, and selected local 4X and Downhill events.
Finally, a bit of good news for all the National 4X riders out there. I have just been accepted onto British Cycling's Mountain Bike commission as a rider rep for 4X. This really gives 4X riders a voice and shows the growth of 4X over the last few years. There are lots of new riders who are starting racing in 2010, and British Cycling felt it was now the right time to have 4X riders represented on the Mountain Bike commission. Between myself and Chris Roberts, 4X now has 2 voices on the panel and we really hope this is a great step forward for 4X.
Till next time,
Boom Boom.
