The British National Road Championships head to North Yorkshire and Tees Valley this week, with the time-trial, circuit, and road race championships all set to be contested by the best riders in the country. Here we’ve pulled together all the key spectator and broadcast information you need, and a few of our ones to watch.
Watching from the roadside
The time-trials will take place in Catterick, North Yorkshire, on Wednesday 19 June. While only accredited personnel, including rider support personnel, are able to park and watch on the barracks, spectators are welcome at Catterick Golf Club. The address for the golf club is Leyburn Road, Catterick Garrison, DL9 3QE, where refreshments will be available to purchase. If you’d like to watch the race elsewhere on the circuit, please be mindful of the road closures and parking suspensions in place.
For Friday’s fast and furious circuit race in Darlington, spectator parking is available at Feetham’s multi-storey car park (DL1 5SZ), with good public transport links also available. You can find more information on the Tees Valley Combined Authority website here.
The road races will conclude this year’s championships on Sunday 23 June, starting and finishing just after Saltburn Bank, which has a maximum gradient of more than 22%. The climb will separate the best from the rest with its tight hairpin bends, following soon after a fast descent.
We highly recommend arriving early, taking public transport or utilising the park and ride facility due to the road closures in place. More information on the park and ride facility can be found here, with spaces available at both Saltburn and Redcar. You can find more information on the Tees Valley Combined Authority website here.
Route maps for each of the championships can be found here, and you can find full route analysis from The British Continental here.
