The Welsh Cycling Circuit Race Championships will take place on Saturday 09 September 2017, at the Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells.
Anne Adams-King, chief executive officer at Welsh Cycling said: “We are pleased to see the Welsh Cycling Circuit Race Championships once again taking place this September. The Royal Welsh Showground offers a versatile venue for competitions across cycling disciplines, and a circuit that will challenge riders providing worthy Welsh Cycling Champions.
We welcome all our clubs and members across Wales to come and support the event, and if you’re not racing come and cheer on your fellow club members!
Racing will begin at 9.30am for young riders, with non-championship events for Under 8s and Under 10s, an opportunity for budding young cyclists to get their first taste of racing. U12s. U14s and U16s will shortly follow.
The afternoon competitions will begin with Women’s Junior/Senior/Master C+ and E+ at 2.55pm. Men’s 3rd and 4th category non championship event will roll out at 2.50pm followed by the Men’s Masters C+ and E+ at 3.45pm. The Championship will conclude with the Men’s Junior and Senior Championships at 5.00pm.
With more than 170 clubs and 6000 members in Wales, the Welsh Criterium Championships offer a great opportunity for the cycling community to come together and support the event.
To be eligible for the title of Welsh Champion, riders must comply to the following Welsh Cycling eligibility criteria:
- Rider was born in Wales
- Rider is the son or daughter of a person born in Wales
- Rider has lived in Wales for 5 consecutive years prior to the date of the championship
- Enter before 11.55pm on 26 August
The event is an open event, therefore all riders are welcome to enter but only those who fulfil the criteria will be eligible to contest the Welsh Champion title.
