The first edition of the Go-Ride Wales Tour concluded today back where it began in Cardiff at The Better Maindy Centre following two weeks of Coach led racing across South wales delivered by our network of Go-Ride clubs with Support for Welsh Cycling.

The general idea of the programme is to give riders who have been inspired by the Tour de France the opportunity to take part in themed racing representative of what was on display during the race including Team time trials, climbs, sprints along with plenty of teamwork with all riders aiming to win and pull on a yellow Jersey.

“We wanted to promote the opportunities on offer across Wales within the HSBC UK Go-Ride programme that has played a vital role in introducing and supporting young riders take up and develop within the sport of Cycling”. said Dan Coast, Welsh Cycling Development Officer for South Wales.

A number of clubs agreed to take up the challenge of hosting a “Stage” and we have seen some inventive ideas to use for the races, who knows one of the riders from this year’s events may get to pull on the real jersey in a few years’ time.

With the Go-Ride Wales Tour now complete, there are still opportunities to take part in youth cycling sessions over the summer holidays through our regional coaches, details of sessions and how to contact the regional coaches can be found here.

Alternatively, why not contact your local Go-Ride club and get involved in a wide range of disciplines on offer across Wales
