Cyling is at the heart of the way we move in Britain, and the numbers speak for themselves

16.5 million of us ride regularly, whether it’s for fun, fitness, competition, or the need to get from A to B.

No matter where or how you ride, we’re here to support, inspire, and grow the cycling community - because when more people ride, we’re happier, healthier and more connected.

Cycling can transform lives and achieve huge things

For everyone that rides a bike, cycling brings an abundance of joy.

The Great Britain Cycling Team has brought joy to audiences around the world. And behind these performances - and all we do - are thousands of dedicated volunteers, plus clubs, family and friends providing essential support.

We pride ourselves on the community British Cycling has built over the years. Our network includes you, our amazing members, cycling clubs, passionate volunteers, and talented athletes and staff, across all walks of life and in all reaches of Great Britain.

Our priorities

We’re ready to supercharge our efforts and focus on three strategic priorities - ensuring that every move we make drives us towards long-term success.

1. To support and grow the sport

1. To support and grow the sport

We are reimagining our sporting pathways and rider experiences - embracing innovation, making things simpler, and celebrating the best of Britain at every level. And at the heart of it all? Our volunteers. Simply put, our sport wouldn’t exist without them. Supporting, diversifying, and recognising our volunteers isn’t just important, it’s paramount.

So, what does success look like for us? More people on bikes, more opportunities to participate and more people like me.

2. To lead on the world stage

2. We're here to win and win well

British Cycling Events will continue to evolve and deliver world class events, support our performance aspirations, and reach more people in the UK and across the world.

We recognise the enormous potential of our global platform as a force for good and pledge to share our wisdom and influence across the globe. Be that changing public perception and removing barriers to entry or harnessing the immense reach and influence of our elite competitors, we are in a unique position to drive real, tangible change at a local, national and international level.

3. To drive social impact

We're here to tackle inequalities through providing opportunities

Whether journeying from sofa to saddle or developing skills for employment, we’re here for you. Together with our partners and communities, we will tackle inactivity, drive social cohesion, social mobility and social justice.

How we'll reach our destination

How we'll reach our destination

British Cycling Events will deliver unmissable entertainment that fuses thrilling spectacles, with digital innovation and captivating content. Reaching diverse audiences, growing the sport and achieving meaningful social impact are central to this ambition.

Across the country, communities are facing deep-rooted challenges—growing health concerns, increasing social isolation, and widening inequalities that limit opportunity. That’s why we are establishing the British Cycling Foundation, a charity which will harness the power of the bike to create a healthier, happier and more inclusive society.

Not the end, this is just the beginning

We take our environmental and social responsibility very seriously and uphold the highest standards of governance. We will continue to be a leader in this space, both in the UK and internationally.

Focus areas span our entire organisation, from carbon reduction and sustainable travel, to our equity, diversity and inclusion plans and our unique social impact programme.

Our sport is different. It’s more than competition or a mode of transport. It’s a catalyst for social change and a gateway to better health, stronger communities, and a brighter future.

This is just the beginning, but we can’t achieve our aspirations on our own. Our staff, members, athletes, volunteers, partners – including UK Sport, Sport England, Lloyds, and many many more – are vital to success.

Together, let’s achieve huge things and bring the joy of cycling to everyone.
