This course trains up confident and competent recreational cyclists to lead groups on the road in a safe and enjoyable manner, set mainly in urban environments up to a maximum distance of 50 miles.
The award qualifies learners to deliver guided bike rides for groups of beginner and intermediate level adults and accompanied children on roads and cycle paths.
The course covers preparing for a ride, group management, risk management, route planning and British Cycling's good practice guidelines
Please note, on completion of the course you will be provided with the option to become a British Cycling volunteer by joining the Breeze and/or Guided Rides programmes. For further details click here.
What does the course include?
The course blends online learning with an assessed one-day course. Learners receive
- 30 days access to British Cycling Learning, with 4 hours of directed learning
- One day of expert tuition by a British Cycling tutor including practical assessment

Private Course (for up to 10 people) - £1625.00

Private Course (for up to 20 people) - £3250.00
There is no requirement to lead rides for British Cycling upon completing this course.
Please note the course prices will be increasing to £185 from January 2025.
How long will the course take to complete?
One day for the course, plus half a day online learning and another half day for first aid
What do I need to be able to register?

The minimum age to attend a course is 18 years old and you must be a confident and competent recreational cyclist to lead groups on the road.
