The Racecourse Bike Ride

Event: 12th July 2009, Epsom Downs

Source: The Autism Society

Fancy getting out in the fresh air this summertime and taking in some of the most beautiful scenery England has to offer whilst raising money for a great cause? Well look no further! The National Austistic Society is holding a brand new sponsored cycling challenge next month and would love for you to take part!

Taking part

The Racecourse Bike Ride starts and finishes at Epsom Downs Racecourse and there are two great courses to chose from. The first is a 50-mile loop across the beautiful North Downs, through quiet country roads and Surrey villages down to Cranleigh, climbing the infamous White Downs on the way back to Epsom Downs Racecourse. The second is a 100-mile figure of eight which carries on from the 50-mile route, across the South Downs into West Sussex, taking in incredible views, and on to Goodwood Racecourse, before returning back to Cranleigh via Petworth, on to White Downs and finishing at Epsom Downs Racecourse.

Registration is £30 and the minimum sponsorship is £150, all funds raised will go towards our vital services such as the Autism Helpline, Advocacy for Education Service, Befriending scheme, Parent to Parent support service and help!

Volunteering

If actually cycling in the bike ride isn't for you we are also looking for volunteers, ideally 8-10 people to give teas and coffees out to cyclists at refreshment stops along the route as well as directing people to registration before the start of the event. The 100 milers will be setting off at 8am and the 50 milers at 9am, so it will be an early start for those volunteers helping with registration and then later in the day we'll need people along the route probably until the late afternoon.
