London to Paris Folding Bike Challenge

Date: 9 - 13 September 2009

Folding bike enthusiasts from across the UK and beyond will undertake the first ever London to Paris charity cycle ride to highlight the versatility of these commuting and travel companions.

Organised by events company Action Challenge, the Folding Bike Challenge will see up to 100 participants set off from the London Eye on September 9. After 4 days and 240 miles in the saddle they will reach the Eiffel Tower, and after a day of sightseeing around the French capital aboard the bikes participants will return to London by Eurostar.

With more than 75,000 folding bikes sold in the UK alone in 2008, the folding bike community is growing rapidly. Participants who sign up for the challenge can also choose to raise sponsorship for the event's two charity partners, the British Heart Foundation and Scope.

Stefan Meigh, Managing Director of Action Challenge, said: "Not only is this event a physical challenge it will also be great fun. We are also hoping it will raise awareness of the benefits of folding bikes for both commuting and travels further afield."
