The 29th edition of the Junior Tour of Wales was held over the bank holiday weekend in August with the best Juniors from around Britain racing the final British Cycling National Series event of the series over three days and five stages. The race has had many a famous name win it during those 29 years including Daniel Martin, Charly Wegelius, Matt Stephens, Roger Hammond and the course this year was as hard as ever with many a mountain climb in it to test the riders to their limits. Adding his name to the roll call of honour was the Isle of Man's Tim Kennaugh.

Tim Kennaugh wins the 2009 Junior Tour of Wales

Day 1
Glendene CC's Joe Perret showed why he is the European Time Trial champion with a stage victory up the mountain called the Tumble while in the afternoon for stage 2, the Isle of Man's Tim Kennaugh rode away from all his rivals up the final mountain to win the stage and take the yellow jersey from Perrett. Day 2
Joshua Edmondson and Peter Dibben were the winners of stages 3 and 4 on long wet day day of the Junior Tour of Wales. The yellow jersey though, Tim Kennaugh kept that jersey ready to defend it on the queen stage of the race finishing on the Tumble on day 3.: Report and photos here

Day 3
The final stage of the Tour of Wales was as epic as they come with 60 miles of mountainous terrain in pouring rain, mist and wind to contend with and at the top of the Tumble, Joshua Edmondson won his second stage of the race ahead of Joe Perrett and Jake Tanner. Tim Kennaugh won the race overall from Sam Harrison and Joshua Edmondson. Report and photos here
