Big win for Emma Trott in Time Trial
British rider, Emma Trott, riding with the Great Britain Academy Team in support of Olympic Champion Nicole Cooke, has had her biggest win to-date with a win in the third stage of the UCI ranked, Gracia - Orlova stage race. Emma, riding a GB team Pinarello Time Trial bike with disc wheel and deep section front wheel, used her equipment to her best advantage to finish 15 seconds ahead of yellow jersey in the race, Marianne Vos.

Speaking to Emma after the race, she explained "this victory was more of a surprise to me than anyone else. I just got onto the turbo and did what I usually do for a warm-up, went down the start ramp and rode like I usually ride. When I crossed the line, everyone was like ‘you might have won’, and I was like, really! How did that happen?"
"I've always been able to do a good time trial but I haven't really worked on it a lot this year." The time trial was held in wet conditions and felt faster says Emma on the way out than it did on the way back. The Time Trial was the first of two stages on the day and Emma certainly made the most of the morning effort to get herself onto the podium.
Emma has worked hard in recent years to make herself a life in cycling, racing for a Dutch team and now being drafted into ride with GB as well. "You have to have something to aim for in life and at the start of the year, the aim was to do what I did last year and ride for my Dutch team. Since then, opportunities have arisen and I've taken them".
Emma says that riding for GB this year in quite a few races has been a good experience and says a lot of that is because everyone gets on so well. The team have one more stage to go, 100 kilometres long, and going into that, Nicole Cooke (British & Olympic champion) is lying in fourth overall. Team GB will follow this race up with the 14th Tour de l'Aude Cycliste Féminin in May.
