Location: Hove Park
Event: 17 May 2013
The format remains the same for all races throughout the series with each evening starting with a 4th Category-only event over 30 minutes plus 5 laps, followed by a 2nd/3rd Category contest over 50 minutes plus 5 laps.
The introduction of the new points scoring system - geared towards keeping the fight for the overall title series as exciting as possible - has already resulted in some superb racing as witnessed in the first race which took place in April.
Race 2 promises to be another feisty affair for the Cat 2/3 movers and shakers who are competing for the series trophy: Jules Birk (VC Londres) currently leads with 25 points followed by Mike Coyle (Brighton Mitre) with 17 points and Paul Flynn (Brighton Mitre) on 14 points.
With April’s Cat 4 race winner Steven Willis (Eastbourne Rovers) gaining automatic promotion to 3rd Cat status with his win (and so he will be duking it out with the big guns) – the Cat 4 also promises to be a hard fought race.
The 1km circuit - situated at the northern end of Hove Park - is a tight affair that rewards tactical thinking, committed attacking and sorts out who can handle their bikes and who can’t! The direction of the race changes every event and it doesn’t matter which way round the race goes. Every rider will have to face the demanding corners and a leg-breaking drag up the finish that eventually rewards only the very strongest.
See you on the start line!
