Under-14 Tim Torrie (Chelmer CC) was the exception to the rule on a day of close racing for the second round of the Lee Valley Youth CC Summer Series on the Hog Hill circuit.
Torrie took a commanding lead in the early stages of the race and was never threatened as he soloed to a clear victory ahead of Tom Easley (Crawley Wheelers).
Jack Billyard (Swindon RC) took his sixth win of the season in the under-16s on a cloudy but fine afternoon in Essex which saw 114 riders in action across the age groups.
Welwyn Wheelers’ Sophie Chastell was best of the Under-16 girls, while Sophie Wright (Great Yarmouth CC) was best in the Under-14s category.
Barking and Dagenham CC’s Liam Hanks won the Under-12s race from Iceni Velo’s Josun Cole, while Becky Surridge was fastest girl.
And Barking and Dagenham were also celebrating after Mitchell Lacey won the Under-10s race from the promoting club’s Caelan Miller, while in the girls race Maya Teufel-Tarlton was best.
Iceni Velo rider Edward Cole held off San Fairy Ann rival Daniel Lloyd for victory in the Under-8s race.
