Scottish Cycling are pleased to announce the dates of the final two 2017 Scottish National Championships on the calendar.
The Scottish National 10 Mile Time Trial Championship will now be held on 7th May by promoting club Fife Century. No applications were received to host this Championship and Scottish Cycling have been working with various organisers since November to identify an organising club as well as a suitable date for the event and thanks must go to the clubs that were involved in this process; Moray Firth CC, Fullarton Wheelers and Fife Century. The Championship does regretfully clash with the Scottish National Women’s Road Race Series event, the Sharon Argue Memorial and Scottish Cycling has discussed this with both organisers and without a possible alternative for each event, the decision was made with both organisers and the National Events Team that we would go forward with both events on this date. Individuals already entered this event prior to the weekend were contacted by the organiser directly about this situation.
The Scottish National Criterium and Youth Road Race Championships will be held on 30th September at Ingliston, promoted by West Lothian Clarion. Again, no applications were received to host this Championship and therefore Scottish Cyclign have been working with clubs to source organisers for the event. Many thanks to West Lothian Clarion for supporting this event.
Scottish Cycling would like to thank all Event Organisers for their support during the calendar compilation process, and for their time and effort to make sure the Scottish National Championships go ahead. Scottish Cycling would also like to thank riders for their patience as Scottish Cycling worked hard to confirm National dates. Event Organisers are currently going through the event registration process so please keep an eye on the calendar for these popping up in the near future.
