Scottish National Madison Championships 2019

Glasgow | Saturday 7th December

The Scottish National Madison Championships will take place this weekend at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow as part of the Festive Flyer Event.

The madison is a race where each team must complete more laps than any of the other teams. Riders in each team alternate during the race, handing over to the other member, resting, and then returning to the race. Teams of two riders take turns racing, and the replacement rider has to be touched before he can take over. The touch is normally a hang-sling with one rider hurling the other into the race.

In the Open event, last year’s champions Martin Lonie and Andy Brown will partner with Rab Wardell and Matti Dobbins so competition will be fierce. Excitement around this year’s championship is further heightened as Commonwealth Games riders Katie Archibald and Neah Evans take to the boards to compete.

SCX7: Mullorca

Isle of Mull | Saturday 7th December - Sunday 8th December

Hors Catégorie have taken over organisation of this round of the SXC in Mull. Racing will take place in the grounds of the beautiful Glengorm Castle and the course promises to challenge all riders. Saturday 7th December will be a Scottish CX Series race while Sunday 8th December will be a more laidback affair with a non-series race at a reduced cost.
