Scottish Cycling are committed to supporting the delivery of an events pathway which meets the needs of riders at every level. The first step in meeting this objective is for us to embark upon a review of the Regional Series which take place across all five Scottish Regions.

The main aims of the review are to:

  • Create a clear understanding of the role that regional series have to play in the development of cyclists across the disciplines

  • Engage the current and potential volunteers involved in the delivery of regional series to have their voices heard in this process

The review will begin in Spring 2020 with a proposal being developed by Summer 2020 with the intention to implement through calendar compilation so that changes are in place for the 2021 season.

It is our intention that we will work closely with event organisers in 2021 to understand the impact of the changes, capture participants experience and measure the success of the implementation. Any further changes off the back of further feedback can be used to enhance the regional series offering in future years.

All stakeholders involved in regional series will have the opportunity to have their views and opinions heard in this process. We have already undertaken 1:1 discussions with event organisers who have been involved in the delivery of Regional Series events in the past, and have now developed a survey which is aimed at the following groups:

  • Event Organisers
  • Parent/Guardians
  • Riders
  • Club Coaches / Volunteers

The survey will be open from today (15th June) for two weeks until the 30th June.

Scottish Cycling recognise the importance that regionals series have and look forward to engaging with all involved during this process.
