Women and girls are under-represented within cycling at all levels, and this is reflected in the demographic of British Cycling membership, as well as across the membership of cycling clubs.
In Scotland there are over four times as many male members of cycling clubs than there are female members, with the membership statistics in December 2019 identifying 81% male and 19% female membership.
Scottish Cycling are committed to growing the influence and participation of women and girls across the sport of cycling. As part of this we are developing a toolkit which will provide information, advice and practical tools to help clubs attract and retain more female members. We have designed a survey to help us to identify what will be useful to include in the toolkit and to inform the development of the project.
The survey should only take about 5 minutes to complete. We want to get as many responses as possible from anyone with an interest in women and girls cycling, whether as a cyclist, a parent of a girl, a volunteer or someone working within cycling. The survey will close on Monday 19th October.
If you want to discuss the survey or this project in more detail, please contact Melanie Toner, Participation Programmes Officer: melanie.toner@scottishcyclling.org.uk
