British Cycling has today announced the dates and venues for it’s 2022 national mountain bike championships and series, with Scotland to play host to two of the three national championships.
MTB Cross-country is the first of the series to kick off in early April, with two rounds north of the border at Newcastleton and Drumlanrig Castle respectively. After a further two rounds down south, Glentress will play host to the 2022 British MTB XC Championships on 23-24 July, a classic course that will see Isla Short look to use home advantage to defend her national champions jersey.
The MTB Downhill Series calendar is also shaping up nicely, with round two a UCI C1 in Fort William on 7-8 May, a few weeks before the UCI World Cup at the same venue. Fast forward a couple of months and Scotland, and in particular Glen Coe, will host the British MTB DH Championships on the weekend 23-24 July.
All in British Cycling have announced 13 series rounds across the MTB disciplines as well as three national championships, giving athletes, coaches, officials and fans plenty of time to plan for what promises to be an exciting 2022 season.
We look forward to brining you updates of the Scottish National Championships and Series in due course.
