Scottish Cycling is getting into the festive cheer by launching its very own advent calendar, as from 1st December until Christmas Eve, we will announce details of our 2022 portfolio of major events; this will include our Scottish National Championships and Series as well as details of other major events in Scotland in 2022.
This year saw the successful return of events from May onwards as we emerged from restrictions, however 2022 will be the return of Series and a full array of National Championships – something that was not possible in 2021 for obvious reasons.
We are pleased to announce that behind the first door in our advent calendar for the 1st December is that of the 2022 Scottish National Downhill Championships, which will take place at Glenshee Ski Centre in Aberdeenshire over the weekend of the 18th and 19th June 2022.
Organised by the Scottish Downhill Association, the Downhill Champs always provide close, exciting racing that takes advantage of the natural terrain in Scotland that’s perfect for the sport. In 2021, the Scottish National Downhill titles were claimed by George Gannicott and Kerry Wilson at the Nevis Range, which you can read more about in our report here.
The second door of our advent calendar will open tomorrow and will be something of interest to those who want to challenge themselves against the clock.
