The Scottish Cycling Women’s Development Group is the national advisory and support forum whose purpose is to develop women and girls cycling in Scotland. Following a period of reflection and review we are currently seeking applications for membership of the group.
Membership is open to anyone with an interest and passion for developing women and girls cycling in Scotland. Ideally the membership will reflect the diversity within cycling, from participation to performance, including different disciplines, regions, and roles.
We would particularly welcome applications from those who live in the North region or those with experience in the BMX or speedway disciplines.
We are looking to recruit two members for terms of two years and the possibility of extending for a further two. The existing membership will remain in place.
Meetings take place six times per year online over zoom however, we hope to meet in person at a time and place convenient to all members at some point. Travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with Scottish Cycling expenses policy.
Melanie Toner, Scottish Cycling Participation Programmes Manager and lead of the group states:
“Scottish Cycling is committed to growing the number of women and girls in cycling and this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in making this happen. Anyone with a passion for increasing women and girls’ participation should consider applying.”
Pauline Capaldi who sits on the group has this to say:
"I joined the Women's Development Group because as a Breeze ride leader I am passionate about encouraging women and girls to enjoy cycling which really is accessible to everyone. I have loved being part of the group as I feel I’ve learnt so much more about cycling from the women in the group as we all have very different backgrounds in cycling whilst all having the same goal.”
