Whilst Scottish Cycling always wants to retain it’s best members of staff, we are always proud when they take the next step in their career journey.

Off the back of our most successful Commonwealth Games in history in Birmingham, we are saying goodbye to two key members of support staff who made the record 11 medal haul a reality - David Daniell and Christie Pollock.

After a successful sprint career in his own right, Daniell moved into coaching, and has been Scottish Cycling’s sprint coach for the last seven years. At 2022 Games the sprint and para-sprint squad, with the support of Daniell, brought home six medals, with great performances across the board.

Dave has now made the move south of the border, where he has taken up the roll of Paralympic World Class Performance Coach with British Cycling, the next step in his career.

For Performance Programme Coordinator Pollock, it is time to take the next step in her career journey with the Scottish Institute of Sport. Having supported the performance and coaching functions at Scottish Cycling for the last three years, Christie successfully performed the Team Manager role at Birmingham 2022, something she admits was the highlight of her career to date.

Now Christie moves into a Performance Lifestyle role, continuing her sporting career journey.

On her last day with Scottish Cycling, Pollock said:

“Whilst I’m really looking forward to starting my new role, I’m gutted to be leaving Scottish Cycling as it’s been a great organisation to work for. For me, it’s the athletes and community that have made my experience so good and I’m excited to work with athletes in the future, as well as other Scottish sports.”

We wish them both the best of luck in their new roles.
