Decathlon Glasgow Grand Prix Cross
Gearing up for rounds six and seven of the 2010 Scottish Cyclo-Cross Series is this weekend's double header in the City of Glasgow.
First up on Saturday 27th November is the Decathlon Glasgow Grand Prix Category A event being held in Kings Park. A 2.5km course will see riders tackle plenty of grassland, adverse camber, tarmac and a wooded path. With additional support from the Sports Council for Glasgow and East-Kilbride Training Association, Race Director Tom Forbes and his team have engineered a European style course using the full contours of the Park.
Tom explained, "We have something for everyone and have tried to be as inclusive as possible. Five events ranging from the under 12 s to some of the top elite riders in Scotland will compete for a very generous prize fund from our key sponsor Decathlon. I'm also expecting a strong contingent from the North of England who will surely test the best Scotland has to offer and with cold weather forecast it's going to be fast and furious".
Racing begins at 10am and will finish around 3.15pm. Riders and spectators are advised to park in Kings Park Secondary School.
The weekend concludes with the Category B round seven of the series at Bellahouston Park on Sunday 28th November. Race Director Brian Skinner has likewise pulled out all the stops and again it is shaping up to be a cracker with generous support from Dales Cycles of Glasgow. On a slightly longer course, a mixture of grass, tarmac and single track will make for an interesting event. Racing on Sunday starts at 10am. Further details for both events, which are entry on the day, can be found at www.scottishcyclocross.org.uk.
