Following on from British Cycling's recent announcement regarding the use of onboard camera at events, we are now pleased to reveal guidance for events in Scotland.
Onboard camera footage provides an exciting new way to help showcase the thrilling racing action that often goes unnoticed, and provides a fascinating perspective to racing and the variety of disciplines and courses on offer. Onboard footage also has the potential to open cycling up to new audiences and enable greater publicity for the sport.
After successful trials in the British National Road Series in England this season, we are pleased to confirm that camera usage will now be possible for events in Scotland, subject to the appropriate permissions.
Riders who would like to use onboard cameras in any event in Scotland must fill out this British Cycling application form at least seven days prior to the event taking place, and must have their form approved by British Cycling. Any forms submitted closer to the event will not be processed:
For Scottish National Championships or Scottish National Series, we request that riders also fill out this Scottish Cycling form, ideally alongisde the British Cycling form above, but no later than 72 hours before the event:

We hope the new guidance will help to showcase the thrills and excitement of the sport and enable fans to get closer to the action than ever before. From time to time Scottish Cycling may request footage to use in promotional material to help showcase our fantastic sport to new audiences via social media.
The new process will enable riders and event organisers, from all disciplines and levels of the sport, to benefit from use of the technology with immediate effect.
