Coaching in Context – BMX Freestyle supports intermediate and advanced skills and tricks.


What can I do with the qualification?

On completion of Coaching in Context – BMX Freestyle, you will have developed your coaching practice, applying new approaches to coaching riders in more advanced skills and tricks for BMX Freestyle.

Skills include learning when to ‘eject’, manual, fakie, airing quarter pipes, transfers, jumping hips, jumping a spine and wall rides. Grinds, stalls and lip tricks are also included. See the remit below for details.

This is ideal for coaches who will be coaching recreational or competing riders at local, regional, national and international level BMX Freestyle.

BMX Freestyle Parks - all areas and ramps.

Who?

1 to 6 riders per session.

Requirements

Minimum age 18 years
Qualifications Introduction to Coaching (Activity Coach) – BMX Freestyle

This qualification provides coaches with a remit to coach foundation techniques for BMX Freestyle, enabling coaches to prepare for this next course.
Coaching experience Coaches should have a minimum of 100 hours of independent coaching in BMX Freestyle. This supports coaches in the development of their practice and understanding BMX Freestyle as a sport.

Level 2 coaches without a discipline specific coaching qualification, should have extensive experience of BMX racing as a discipline.
Riding experience Experience of riding a BMX Freestyle bike.
Equipment A BMX Freestyle bike in good working order.

You will also need a helmet.
First Aid It is good practice to hold a First Aid certificate, if you are coaching independently. If you wish to be covered by British Cycling Coaches insurance, you will need an Emergency First Aid.

This course is the second module in the pathway, and you will be given a time limited remit to complete the full Coach Award with 18 months.

Level 1 and Level 2 Coaches accessing this module will have an additional remit and the ‘Coaching in Context – BMX Freestyle' remit added to their records.
