Once again the Via Roma summer sportive will be taking place this September with routes of 40 and 80-miles to choose from.
An intentionally not timed event to promote a laid back atmosphere, you will be guided through the idyllic Cotswold countryside taking in ancient villages and passing Roman ruins along the way. The 80-mile Cotswold challenge will include 1600-metres of climbing whereas the 40-mile Cotswold stroller a more leisurely 450-metres, aimed at novices and first-time sportive riders.
This year’s event is again supported by Ride 24/7 who will be providing mechanical support throughout the day as well as acting as broom-wagon and Powerbar will be providing nutritional support at the feed stations, of which there are two on the longer route and one on the short. We have new sponsors Wilier Bikes too.
All pre-registered entrants will receive a goodie bag upon completion of the event as well as a finishers medal, plus one lucky rider will be drawn at random whilst out on the road and will be presented with a pair of Oakley sunglasses when they return!
The headquarters for this year remains at Cricklade Leisure Centre following excellent feedback from last year’s riders, there is a cafe and shower facilities on hand and all riders will be given a voucher for a coffee and bacon roll when they return from riding (there will also be a vegetarian option available).
The Via Roma Summer Sportive will be held on 14 September this year and is now open to entrants.
All entrants will receive a link to a file which can be uploaded to GPS devices prior to the event.
