Event: 30 June 2013
Location: Stapleford, Nottinghamshire
Preview: Beeston CC

Taking place on 30 June, with 47, 75 and 111 mile routes on offer, the 2013 Beeston CC Sportive is a great opportunity to really challenge and benchmark your fitness for the rest of the season. Two of Beeston CC's riders recently crossed the Channel to ride the Liege Bastogne Liege (LBL) sportive and came back with much to compare with the club's June event. Andy from Beeston CC takes over the story.

Our two Beeston riders rode the LBL medium route 160km (99 miles) and they enjoyed climbing the famous hills of this the oldest classic on the European calendar. Despite being tired, they said: “Our BCC Sportive is a real challenge and our long route is much tougher than the LBL medium route. Even though our long route is 12 miles longer I could hardly walk after it whereas I had a lot more than 12 miles in my legs after the LBL”.

All our routes are hilly, though not gratuitously so, in keeping with the The Peak’s fantastic topography. There are flat moorland sections, steep/short and longer/gentler climbs and, of course, fabulous descents, all crafted from an intimate and obsessional knowledge of The Peak.

As a cycling club we want to keep that club feel with excellent local route knowledge and friendly service that ensures that people return year on year. Look out for the next press release where you can read our club riders’ report on the different routes.
