Event: 4 August 2013
Location: Solihull, West Midlands
There are less than four weeks to enter the inaugural Tommy Godwin Challenge Sportive and raise funds for Marie Curie.
At 50 miles, it is an ideal first sportive, yet challenging enough for the experienced rider. Set up to honour local Olympic medallist and cycling legend Tommy Godwin all the profits from the event will be used to fund the new Marie Curie hospice in Solihull where Tommy spent his last few days.
For the less experienced cyclists and families there is an associated leisure ride of 16 miles with a special family entry fee.
Entries from women are actively encouraged and our local British Cycling Breeze Champions will be there to support them.
"It is a fitting way to raise funds for the hospice that provided us with so much support during his last few days."
Kay Jones, Tommy Godwin's daughter
Tommy Godwin’s daughter, Kay Jones, said ‘Tommy would have been delighted to see the Olympic legacy and women’s cycling supported and encouraged in this way. It is a fitting way to raise funds for the hospice that provided us with so much support during his last few days.’
The fully signposted routes make the most of the wonderful network of Warwickshire lanes, with the sportive heading out past Badesley Clinton and the wonderful Coughton Court before returning via Sambourne and Tanworth in Arden
