The second running of the Igloo Eastern Peak Sportive took place on Sunday April 6 in typically Spring like weather i.e. a brisk wind and squally showers.
Riders arrived early to Holmebrook Valley Park, everybody was cheery and looking forward to a classic day of Peak District riding. What lay ahead was a choice of 127km or 71km routes with seven or four tough climbs to tackle, including the infamous Rowsley Bar with an average gradient of 10.1%. High5 supported feed stations throughout the route kept riders energy levels topped up, nowhere else was this more appreciated than at the top of Rowsley Bar!!
On the return to Holmebrook riders were welcomed with hot soup, drinks and well earned cake. Thank you to all of you that braved the weather and made the event a success.

The next round of the Dark & White Cycling Sportive Series is the Peak Epic on Sunday June 1 from Lady Manners School, Bakewell – there are three routes for all abilities with the long route being an epic journey including 14 of the hardest Peak District climbs totaling 4000m of ascent.
