Run in memory of a well loved and regular cycling event competitor John ‘Tommo’ Thompson this popular sportive is now in its third year and offers routes of 125km, 77km and 45km.
Starting and finishing from the scenic and family friendly Carsington Water in the southern Peak District the ride heads out via the market town of Ashbourne into the White Peak and The Staffordshire Moorlands.
The 125km long route takes in some classic Tour of Britain climbs – Ramshorn (cat 2), Gun Hill (cat 1) and Cromford Hill (cat 3) as well as the fearsome 22% ascents of both Riber Road (Matlock) and West End (Wirksworth) near the end of the route. The last 15-20km of the long and medium rides definitely have a sting in the tail.
Organised by Dark & White Cycling the people behind the Igloo, Peak Epic and Three Counties Buxton Spa, riders can expect the same well signed routes, fully stocked feed-stations and instant event timing.
With the three fantastic routes on offer it should suit and challenge everybody of all fitness levels.
