Pendle Pedal
Date: 2nd August 2009
Challenging 60-mile and 100-mile routes through the beautiful and hilly Pendle, Ribble Valley, Lune Valley and Forest of Bowland countryside. It includes some of the most famed and feared climbs in British Cycling including the Nick O'Pendle, Waddington Fell, Tatham Fell and the Trough of Bowland; tests which have been set for professionals in previous Tour of Britain, Kelloggs Tour and Milk Race races. Eric Wright Construction is sponsoring the event - now in its fourth year.
Where else in England can you ascend for several miles with nothing much around you except stunning views, and the silence broken only by your exertions? Cars are infrequent interruptions only.
By the time they've reached the finish the riders will have climbed over 3500metres.
Full ride support services (including pick-up vehicles, full route marshalling and signage) and well-stocked refreshment stations. Pendle Bike Show will be set up in the finish area for all including demos, entertainment, try-outs and displays - so come along and have a great day out! |
