British Cycling have announced an accessible and affordable ticketing process for next year’s UCI Track Cycling World Championships at the Lee Valley VeloPark in London, which is designed to welcome diehard fans and first-timers alike with the cheapest tickets available at £10.
There will be a range of tickets available across the 12 sessions from Wednesday 2 to Sunday 6 March 2016, including concessionary prices and combination tickets to ensure everyone has the opportunity to be part of what is set to be the country’s premier sporting event in 2016.
Tickets for the event will be sold via Ticketmaster and will be released in three phases.
- British Cycling members will initially be given four days of priority access from Tuesday 31 March to Friday 3 April.
- A second priority access period will see tickets made available to anyone who signs up to the 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships website.
- Tickets will then go on general sale on Tuesday 12 May.
Tickets for weekday sessions will start at £15 for adult tickets and £10 for concessions. Weekend sessions range from £20 for adults and £10 for under 16s to a starting price of £40 for adults and £25 for under 16s for finals.
Olympic gold medallist and Lee Valley VeloPark ambassador, Laura Trott, said of the event: “The Lee Valley VeloPark is a special venue and it will be an amazing experience to return in 2016 to compete to become world champion.
“Growing up not far from the venue, I’ve been overwhelmed by the support people in London and around the UK have shown for cycling since 2012.
“I am so happy that British fans will be able to see us compete at the highest level in the biggest major event ahead of the Rio Olympics. I just hope we can give them a great send off!”
The dates for next year’s World Championships were confirmed this week, with 19 gold medals set to be decided over five days at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
For riders on the Great Britain Cycling Team, the 2016 World Championships are a chance to compete for the much-coveted rainbow jerseys awarded to world champions. For fans, it is a chance to watch sporting history made and experience the famous velodrome roar which lifted British riders to an amazing nine Olympic medals.
