Women’s sprint

Olympic champions Emma Finucane and Sophie Capewell will be among those entertaining the crowds as teammates become rivals in the women’s keirin and sprint events, which will take place across the Saturday and Sunday respectively. They will also face fierce competition from reigning national sprint and keirin champion Lauren Bell and Scottish champion Kirsty Johnson.

Olympian Lowri Thomas and previous sprint champion Rhian Edmunds will team up with Bell for the team sprint.

Daphne Schrager spearheads the para-cycling women’s time-trial, while Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl will be hoping to take the title in the tandem 1km event, with competition from Lizzi Jordan and Dani Khan, and Lora Fachie with new pilot Charlotte Deykin.

Matt Richardson

Men’s sprint

Matthew Richardson will be competing in his first British National Track Championships and will be looking for a title clean sweep in the sprint, keirin and team sprint.

2024 sprint champion Pete Mitchell will be hoping to reclaim the individual title, having recently taken the win at the SD Team CymruVelo Cup last weekend, with Olympian Hamish Turnbull, 2023 champion Harry Ledingham-Horn and Scottish rider Lyall Craig also challenging for the title.

A stacked keirin field will also excite fans, with Hayden Norris hoping to defend his title after a photo finish in last year’s final.

Paralympic royalty including gold medallists James Ball and pilot Steffan Lloyd, and Jody Cundy will be looking to take those national stripes in their first track event since the medal rush of last summer’s Games. The para-cycling team sprint will also be awarded national championship status for the first time.
