The lions share of course are British riders but a large contingent of 23 French and 16 Italian riders will travel to Manchester. The official Italian and  French Federation delegations number 50 in total which shows the importance that these Federations give to Masters competition. Next are the Irish with 12 riders and then the Germans with eight. Other Nations represented will include Austria, Denmark, Finland, Greece and Hungary.

Manchester City Councillor Mike Amesbury, Executive Member for Arts & Leisure has given the Championships his support and stated "On behalf of Manchester City Council I am delighted to welcome back Europe's elite Masters cyclists for the second European Masters Track Championships.  This event forms a valuable part of Manchester's Major Sports Event Strategy and kicks off an exciting time for  the City's many cycling fans who are also looking forward to the first Skyride on 2nd August plus further elite cycling events coming thick and fast in the autumn with the National Track Championships, Track World Cup Classic and Paracycling World Championships all at the Manchester Velodrome."

Masters track cycling is open to men and women competitors over the age of 30 who compete in 5 year age bands 30-34, 35-39 and so on right up to 70 years plus.  Competition is fiercely competitive but friendly nonetheless. Great camaraderie exists between the riders and lifelong friendships are formed between competitors of all nationalities. The daily competition schedules can be found on the masters website  www.cyclingmasters.com along with a full list of riders in each category.

Spectators tickets are also now available. Entry to the daytime sessions where qualifying rounds in each competition will take place are FREE. Evening sessions are on sale at £8 each (£4 for concessions). A week long ticket at a discounted price of £30 is also offered. Tickets can be purchased direct from Manchester Velodrome where no additional booking fee will be charged if spectators collect their tickets on the door or a £1.50 fee if posted.
