Double world champion Dannielle Khan celebrated victory in the junior female sprint at the 2013 British National Junior and Youth Track Championships less than a week after her medal haul in Glasgow.

Khan, who won the titles in the sprint and 500 metre time trial as well as picking up silver in the keirin at the junior track world championships, defeated British under 16 sprint champion Sophie Capewell in the gold medal final by two heats to nil at the Manchester Velodrome.

Seventeen-year-old Khan was the only rider below the 12 second mark in the flying 200 metre qualifying lap, the Solihull CC rider’s time of 11.556 seconds over half a second clear of Capewell.

Ellie Coster (Bush Healthcare CRT) beat Hannah Blount (Derby Mercury RC) for bronze in straight heats.

“Happy to be the Junior National Sprint Champion and it was great to ride in the World Champs skinsuit,” British Cycling Olympic Development Programme athlete Khan tweeted.

The under 16 male sprint concluded with Joseph Truman (I-Team Cyclists' Club) prevailing in the gold medal tie after a close fought battle with Thomas Rotherham (Sportcity Velo). Truman took the first heat before Rotherham responded to level up the tie before Truman, who had qualified fastest on Wednesday, won the decider.

In the junior men’s 20-kilometre scratch race, Luc Hall (Kuota - Spinergy – GSG) won gold having narrowly secured qualification for the final from the heats.

Oliver Wood (Team Sportscover) finished second and Chris Lawless (Kuota - Spinergy – GSG) third to complete the podium.

Joe Holt (County Cycles RT) won his second gold of the championships in the under 16 male points race. Holt, the victor in Tuesday’s individual pursuit, scored in five of the six sprint laps in the final to build a total of 16 points.

Matthew Bostock (Tm Royal London 360 IoM) ended with 10 points for silver and Joel Partington (Sportcity Velo) took bronze with eight points.
