British Cycling’s best lined up for National Track Championships

British Cycling today announced the cycling stars set to compete at the National Track Championships in Manchester later this month.

Amongst the 237 strong line-up, confirmed to appear in the men’s field are, Olympic gold medallists Ed Clancy and Steven Burke as well as former world champion Andrew Tennant. Philip Hindes will feature in the men’s sprint events where he’ll come up against his London 2012 teammate and fellow Olympic champion Jason Kenny in the team sprint.

Olympic champions Joanna Rowsell, Laura Trott and Dani King are joined by 19 year old world champion Elinor Barker in the Wiggle Honda Team Pursuit team as the women’s event is contested with four riders over 4,000m for the first time. They will also go head to head in the individual events where they’ll be joined, among others, by the British Cycling national circuit race champion, Hannah Barnes.

Competing in the women’s sprint events will be London Olympian Jess Varnish and newly crowned junior world champion in the sprint and 500m time trial Dannielle Khan.

Laura Trott said of the event “I’ve been riding on the road with the Wiggle Honda girls during the road season so I’m looking forward to racing with them on the track again as well as competing against them in the individual events.

Giving fans the chance to see some of the biggest names in the sport, the National Track Championships is a unique opportunity to witness the UK’s top cyclists meet on home ground to battle it out for the coveted national champions’ jerseys.

Featuring indoor cycling action across the different track disciplines, including individual and team pursuits and sprints, the event is selling out fast. Tickets are available for a selection of sessions across 27 Friday-29 Sunday September via Ticketmaster.
