We are making 2021 the Year of the Volunteer and shining a light on the brilliant work volunteers do for all forms of cycling across the home nations. We want to acknowledge the huge contribution volunteers make to cycling and recognise the wide variety of roles undertaken to activate, support, lead, and deliver at all levels.
Each month, we are taking nominations from across the regions and home nations. If you think someone deserves a mention, get in touch on social media with your respective regional or national teams or via @BCCoaches on Twitter.
Following an insirational summer of cycling, as spectators and participants, the appetite for cycling activity is ever growing and our volunteers are key to maintaining the momentum.
A huge thank you and well done to all that have been nominated in September 2021 for their ongoing commitment to our sport and to those who may have volunteered for the first time have engaged new riders in their clubs, activities, or groups. Thank you from everyone at British Cycling, and from our community.

Names: Chris, Bill and the 'LCCA timing crew'
Region: South East, London & South East Cyclocross League
Role and/or Qualifications: Racing Timing, Race Organisers
Both Bill & Chris deserve great credit for what they have done on timing and results, and they have achieved a lot in quite a short period of time. It wasn't that many years ago that if a full result was out by Wednesday then you were doing well- now we have it at our finger tips in a matter of minutes. The work Chris has done in the past few years to really accelerate the efficiency and impact of the system has been a real game changer. Not only have Bill & Chris both invested vast amounts of energy getting the system where it is today, they have engaged really well with younger volunteers to help run the system on race days and ensure the system has some legacy value. We'd like to offer our thanks here to Uma, Hugo and Milo who we know have spent a fair share of time in the timing tent with both Bill & Chris. Milo and Uma have taken over the reigns and are now guiding us so professionally through the 2021/22 season so far.
'"I suggest that we have at present one of the best entry/gridding/sign on/results system out there. Certainly with Covid we have the most frictionless sign on process. Queues are in the past, such a headache gone from organising"
"Chris is a well respected member of the regional Cyclocross community and does also give his time to commissaire duties when not in the timing tent- thanks Chris"
"Can I just say how excellent the results system is and the slick processes you clearly have to feed into that. Super quick and super insightful. Well done all"

Name: Jeremy Gill

Jeremy’s nomination is for his time and effort given to taking a team to the South Region Team for the School Games, and for “always going above and beyond for everyone” (South Region Rider)

In addition to this, all nominations recognised Jeremy's continued commitment at all levels to promote and push youth junior cycling forward; whether that’s through helping out at RSR’s and development centre sessions; delivering Zoom online sessions throughout lockdown or helping riders with equipment and resources.
