Today we can share details of the nomination process for the British Cycling Hall of Fame and a host of new volunteer awards, as we look to recognise remarkable achievement and service within our community.

The awards will be presented at our annual awards evening on Saturday 26 October, which will once again take place in The Point at Emirates Old Trafford. This year there are more opportunities than ever for you to have your say, and you can find all the important details below.

Hall of Fame

Launched in 2009, the Hall of Fame recognises extraordinary achievement and exemplary service within the British cycling community, with induction reserved for those who have made a marked impact on the history and growth of our sport.

The Hall of Fame currently consists of 69 members, including the likes of Beryl Burton, Chris Boardman and Sir Chris Hoy, with its four latest members welcomed at the awards dinner in February last year. Future members will be inducted at the end of an Olympic and Paralympic year, meaning this will be your last opportunity to nominate until 2028.

Nominations are now being sought ahead of the deadline on Thursday 13 June, which will then be considered by a selection panel led by British Cycling President Bob Howden OBE. Individuals can be nominated in one of two categories: the first for competitors, and the second for exemplary service.

The competitor category is intended for riders who have competed at the highest level in the sport and now retired from international competition, with all Olympic, Paralympic and elite world champions automatically considered for inclusion by the panel. The exemplary service category is intended for those who have served the interests of the sport at both a national and international level.

Further information on the criteria for each category can be found through the links below.

Volunteer of the Year

In addition to the Hall of Fame, this year we will also be inviting nominations for four new volunteer awards, with categories including Values Champion, Connecting the Community, Inspiring Future Generations and Young Volunteer of the Year.

The awards have been designed to recognise the amazing commitment and service of volunteers across our community, whether they’re supporting racing, participation programmes and clubs, or children and young people.

The judging for criteria for each of the categories, and details of how to apply, will be published in this year’s Volunteers’ Week, beginning on Monday 3 June.

Information on the nomination process for the Bikmo Club of the Year can be found here, and traditional awards such as the Gold Badge of Honour, Regional Badge of Honour, Dave Saunders Memorial Trophy, Brian Cossavella Trophy and Sunday Mirror Trophy will continue to be awarded in the usual manner.

We have a limited number opportunities for brands to be a presenting partner at this year’s awards. To find out more please contact the team to discuss at awardspartnerships@britishcycling.org.uk.
