British Cycling's commissions provide expert help, support and advice to the organisation's board and senior management team

The commissions relate to eight specific cycling disciplines, which are: BMX, BMX Freestyle Park, Cycle Speedway, Cyclo-cross, MTB Endurance, MTB Gravity, Road and Track. There are also commissions dedicated to technical issues and commissaires and referees. Commission members are appointed by the British Cycling board for a term of three years. Members may serve for three consecutive terms before stepping down.

The Board also appoints members to act as the Chair of each commission. One of the responsibilities of a Commission Chair is to sit on the Sport Commission, which considers cross-disciplinary matters.

Commissions typically meet three times a year in Manchester during the working week. Members may be asked to contribute to debates and recommendations by email as well from time to time.

If you feel you have the necessary experience and knowledge to contribute positively to the development of the cycling disciplines and would like to be considered for a commission role, please check the Commission Applications page for information about current recruitment.
