About our club

Welcome to South Shields Velo Cycling Club, we are a growing club for people of all abilities. We achieved Clubmark status in 2017 and have over 220 members of all ages and abilities. There's something for everybody.

The Club is based at Gypsies Green Velodrome and there are rides most days of the week with meeting points in South Shields, Boldon, Jarrow and Hebburn. We cater for all rider abilities and have a friendly core of regular riders who will support and encourage everybody. Nobody gets left behind.

Recently, to compliment the Club's core road riding, more and more members have taken up gravel riding with organised rides for this discipline too.

We have an active road, XC and CX racing team. The club is also affiliated to the N&DCA and the CTT, several members have taken part in local and regional TTs.

We’re supported by a large pool of British Cycling qualified coaches able to teach skills in Cyclocross and general road riding.

We offer 1 hour Go-Ride Coaching sessions for children on Monday evenings. Sessions have a nominal cost and we expect parents/guardians to remain for the session. Our Club House is open during this time. For more details please contact us.

The Club organises several "away days" and weekends away.

We are an inclusive and friendly club with a good mix of male and female riders, young and not so young, experienced and novices.
