About our club

Berkhamsted Cycling Club was established by a group of local riders looking to build on the success of the informal social rides in the area. We are a community club that aims to cater for all levels and abilities of road cyclist, from beginner through to racing standard, with a focus on the social aspects of cycling - getting fit and having fun. There is normally a strong representation of club riders in the many excellent sportives and other rides that take place in our region. We also run cycling events, including annual events such as our Spring Classic reliability ride, Time Trial, and Hill Climb, and other organised rides in groups around the country and abroad. In 2016 we held the Berkhamsted Castle Revolutions Festival - a series of races around Berkhamsted's historic castle with a family festival inside the grounds.

As a club, we took the decision to affiliate to British Cycling as the largest cycling organisation in the UK. To ensure a safe and risk-free environment for riders and ride leaders, we ask that all BCC members join British Cycling also - this covers suitable insurance and provides a number of other benefits all year round. If you are a member of Cycling UK (with 3rd party insurance), this will be accepted in lieu of British Cycling membership. We are also set up as a not for profit sporting club, so we do not work with sponsors.

Once you have become a member of British Cycling (or Cycling UK) and Berkhamsted Cycling Club, you will begin receiving club emails and WhatsApps, and get access to the members’ section of the Club website, Strava group, and RidewithGPS for our route library. If you are already a member of British Cycling, great - you can join us and set Berkhamsted as your home club.

Membership for Berkhamsted Cycling Club is £25.00 per year and we operate a 2nd claim option for those who are already members elsewhere.

If you are new to BCC and have not cycled with us before, please do get in touch to organise a ride before applying for membership - the club has insurance for trial rides so please come along and enjoy the beautiful surrounds on a Saturday morning ride. We meet at Berkhamsted Cricket Club, Castle Hill, Berkhamsted HP4 1HE every Saturday morning at 7:45am during the Summer, and at Berkhamsted Tesco Car Park in Winter. The date when we switch changes, so best to contact us in advance if you are planning to come along.
