About our league

A competitive adult track league based at Derby Arena.
Two 10 week blocks run each year, 1 in spring, 1 in autumn.
Annual (runs Jan to Dec) league registration via BC website. Generally opens up November for the following year.

Weekly entry to race nights via BC website.

The adult league runs for a 12 month period and we plan to have two 10 week seasons – January to March and September to November – with racing on a Tuesday evening. Warm up at 18.30, racing from 19.00 to 22.00.

The adult league has four groups.

Group 1-3 are based on ability with Group 1 being the fastest, where riders are approaching national standard. These groups are open to all from Junior upwards.

Group M is open to masters, women, and novice riders to track racing.

**New for 2025** All groups except Group 1 will have a gear restriction that will make it easier for all riders in each group to compete:
Group 1 – unrestricted
Group 2 – 100"
Group 3 – 98"
Group M – 96"

Track League Points are given for the first eight riders in each race
Gp 1 – 32, 28, 24, 20, 16, 12, 8, 4
Gp 2 – 24, 21, 18, 15, 12, 9, 6, 3
Gp 3 – 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2
Gp M – 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Entries are through the British Cycling website and open on the Tuesday two weeks before each event and close at noon on the Friday before.

Late entries may be accepted by email. The fee for late entries on a Friday is £13. Later it goes up in stages to £20 on Monday.

To race, BC members must have BC membership(Member or Premium) and a race licence, register for the league (annual registration fee of £20 which runs from 01/01 to 31/12 each year) AND enter each weekly session via the BC web site.

For the senior league riders must hold a UK track accreditation and have demonstrated to Derby Arena coaches at SQT sessions that they are suitable to ride at track league. For riders from other tracks we can do other checks to confirm ability.

If we don't recognise your name, we will try to find out more about your experience by asking the Arena coaches, or coming back to you directly for more information, before making a decision to accept or not your registration.
