British Cycling has announced the team of riders who will represent the Great Britain Cycling Team at the second round of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup series, taking place on 9 – 10 April at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester.

Liam Phillips, winner of the World Cup series in 2014 and 2015, will be looking to take the victory on his home track for the fourth consecutive time and he will be joined by fellow podium programme riders Kyle Evans and Tre Whyte. Senior academy rider Quillan Isidore, who was crowned as the under-16 boys world champion in 2012, completes the line-up.

BMX coach Grant White said: “The Manchester round of the BMX Supercross World Cup series has become a firm fixture for the team and one which we always look forward to. The crowds here are fantastic and give the riders an extra boost which is especially important to us this year as we’re in the final stages of Olympic qualification.

“The team is looking to be in good shape and I’m pleased we’ve been able to select all our podium and senior academy riders, with the exception of Paddy Sharrock who misses out due to a broken collarbone.

“A home world cup also gives the opportunity for younger programme riders who haven’t made selection the chance to compete, so this means that our junior academy programme riders Beth Shriever and Blaine Ridge-Davis have entered into the elite women’s event, and similarly Wilfred Njuguna will compete in the elite men’s event.

"These young riders will gain invaluable experience racing against the world’s best and serves as an excellent development opportunity for them.”
