Charlotte Cole-Hossain won the junior women’s points race title on day two of the British Cycling National Youth and Junior Track Championships on Tuesday in Derby.

The VC Londres rider won two of the sprints in the 70-lap race but crucially took a lap on the field for an additional 20 points, taking her total to 30.

Liv CC- Epic Coaching’s Jessica Roberts took silver, earning 20 points, while Drops Cycling Development Team’s Eleanor Dickinson collected bronze with 11 points.

Second title for Capewell

Sophie Capewell picked up a second gold in as many days with victory in the junior women’s keirin. The Team Terminator rider, 17, went undefeated through the first round and semi-final before earning her second British champion’s jersey after winning the 500m time trial.

Black Line’s Chloe Jones was second with Mid Shropshire Wheelers cyclist Esme Niblett winning bronze.

Scratch race gold for Walls

Matthew Walls took a lap on the field in the junior men’s scratch race final for gold. The Velocity Globalbike rider’s lap gain meant Rhys Britton had to settle for silver - his second medal of the championships. Walls’ teammate Reece Wood was third, also picking up a second medal in Derby.

Russell triumphs in points race

Sportcity Velo’s Ellie Russell put the disappointment of missing out on sprint gold behind her by winning the under-16 female points race in a thrilling finale.

Trailing Elynor Backstedt by three points heading in to the final sprint of the 30-lap race, Russell took the maximum five points to secure the title with 35 points.

Backstedt won silver on 33 points, Pfeiffer Georgi taking bronze on 30 points.

Burke pursuits to gold

In the under-16 male category, Matthew Burke edged Charley Calvert to the individual pursuit title by less than sixth-tenths of a second.

Calvert had qualified fastest, but only two-hundredths of a second faster than Burke before the Backstedt Cycling reversed the result over two kilometres.

Para-cycling victory by Robertson

Woolwich CC’s Matthew Robertson won the 2000m para-cycling pursuit with a factored time of 2:34.218. MC2 rider Robertson was marginally faster than Carnac-Planet X’s Lauren Booth who set a factored time of 2:34.538.

Krispin Gardiner was third in a factored time of 2:39.324.
